COUNT IT DOWN AGAIN!

In the 70s and 80s, Countdown on the ABC was the place to be seen and heard if you were a pop or rock muso. The show reportedly helped launch ABBA in Australia, as well as Madonna and many other big names.

The show was hosted by Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum most of the time, and was recorded in front of a studio audience. The show’s voiceovers were provided in the studio by Gavin Wood.

These days Gavin has an excellent podcast series interviewing some of the big names of the era called Gavin Wood’s Countdown Podcast.

There’s plenty of really cool and interesting stories being recounted by some of the regular artists played on Powerzone feature in his podcasts, which you can listen to here.
